Board Officers

Cindy Huesman
President and Treasurer
Cynthia Huesman is primarily an oil painter who paints in a realistic style and additionally has fun with abstraction. She also works with egg tempera, acrylics and pastels. Her favorite crafts are parchment craft, pysanky and paper crafts. Cynthia is most inspired to produce art that has meaning for others as well as creating paintings that show the wonder and beauty of God’s creation. She is a wife, mother and grandmother and takes delight in providing her grandchildren with art and craft lessons. Cynthia and her husband of 40 years live in Charles Town, WV. Cynthia is a former high school biology and general science teacher. Additionally, Cynthia brings her business background which includes both many years’ experience as well as education (MBA) and management skills to contribute to the formation and operation of Sacred Art in Action., Inc.

Jerry Huesman
Vice President
Jerry holds degrees in the humanities, ministry and mental health. Throughout his career he has served in a variety of work settings: church, school, hospitals and government. Now happily retired and spending time with his family and furry children, he believes that the practice of the sacred arts can assist in revealing the divine light hidden within the blessed gift of all creation. To that end he is offering to use his life experience to advance the goals of Sacred Art in Action, Inc.

Kenneth Fanelli
Secretary
Ken Fanelli is the President Emeritus of the Firehouse Gallery (formerly the Washington Street Artists Cooperative) in Charles Town. He also sits on The Jefferson Arts Council Board of Directors. Ken earned bachelor degrees in Art History and American Studies from American University in Washington, D.C., where he also minored in Arts Administration. While at A.U., Ken served as the Art Editor of the college literary magazine and helped coordinated Bicentennial activities on campus. He also holds an MS degree in Nonprofit Management from Eastern University in St. David’s, PA. Ken also serves as a member of the vestry of historic Zion Episcopal Church in Charles Town and has also sat on the Episcopal Diocese of West Virginia’s Diocesan Council and Stewardship Commission.
The son of a high school art teacher and a commercial artist, Ken has been drawing and painting for the past 60 years. He is a former editorial cartoonist for several publications – including the National Jesuit News — and has created line illustrations and spot drawings for pieces he produced in more than 30 years as a writer, editor, production artist and marketer for nonprofits and associations. Ken currently works as a substitute teacher for Jefferson County Public Schools and lives in Ranson, WV, with his wife, Lucy.
