About the Art

Iconography is the use of visual images, symbols or figures to represent complex ideas, subjects or themes important to different cultures.

Each icon is accomplished through the refinement of simple artistic nuance and attention to iconographic canon and principles. The multi-step process of the iconographic method, in which every step is concrete and definitive will begin with a pre-prepared lined drawing that can be drawn/copied onto the prepared gesso board.

As in antiquity, only natural materials are used: wood panels gessoed with natural ground, genuine gold leaf applied by the bole (red clay) method, ground natural pigments with egg tempera as its medium.
